The second meeting in Alytus, Lithuania

20th - 25th May

Meeting report

After meeting in Alytus the students described the impressions and evaluation. All project partners, together with the hosts of the visit,   provided the entire local community with a report on the visit to Italy in the form of a note in the regional press and television. The information included a description of the activity in which we participated and comprehensive benefits they carried these events behind them. In schools, participants presented a detailed report of the lessons and workshops they have taken, so that other teachers can use the new methods and techniques of the classes. There was an evaluation of the visit  during as well as after staying in Italy to allow us to clearly and legibly determine whether the given action has brought the expected result

The power of maths... I couldn't describe how amazing this project is, not even in a million words... It's not because I want to skip classes, it's so much more than that. It's a great opportunity for kids like me to travel to different countries, meet new people, find new friends, get to know other countries, learn a bit of other languages, etc.. Okay enough of that, I'll tell you my experience.

On the first day I was a little scared and nervous, actually, let's say really scared and nervous. I kept a Portugal kid. We didn't talk very much, I mean we

could of course but he didn't know much English words.

That day was pretty fun.

The next day was even scarier, we needed to get to know

each other but of course I got shy and pretty much

didn't say anything, a lot of people liked playing

basketball haha.

There was a party but not much people were dancing,

more like talking.

On Wednesday went by quickly, they went to Vilnius

and I stayed at home.

On Thursday was funny they baked cakes and cupcakes.

On Friday we went for a walk, it was my favorite day, we

were joking around and throwing pinecones at each other. The last day was sad but funny at the same time we went to Pivisiunai, ate some very yummy food and then went to the city, we hanged out all day. I hope in the future to have more projects like this. Why you may ask? Well.. you'll just have to find out yourself...

THE POWER OF MATHS This project was my favourite one... It’s such an amazing experience. The most important thing for me about this project it’s

communicating with others in English.

I made so many new friend, practiced my English, my

maths, had so much fun...

This whole week just flashed before my eyes...

I’m really thankful for my teacher Rita BarysienÄ— that I

tooked a part at this project.

This goodbye was one of the hardest goodbyes of my life.

I missed all of the people that where in the project.

We have to do more of project because we need to

bring something new to our school.

Not just learning... Thanks for all the teachers that

organized this amazing project.

I would like to talk about Erasmus+ project, The power of

math“. It was my favorite project because I found new

friends from Italy, Poland, Turkey and Portugal.

I was full of energy that week and I wasn‘t afraid to be

myself. Most of all I liked all activities and party, The

bridges of friendship“.

This week my heart was beating so fast, because on

Monday I was waiting Tuesday, on Tuesday I was

waiting Wednesday and so on.

The teachers and students from each country were so nice

and friendly.

Now I can say: IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST WEEK IN MY LIFE!

My experience in “The Power Of Maths” project: When they first announced that there will be a new project like this, I was excited, I like meeting new people, especially from different countries. I quite liked this project, it was fun but i didn’t make much friends, I was mostly sick for the week and couldn’t come. But other than that it was great! We baked cakes, had a disco at our school, played games and did some activities. Some of the countries didn’t now english that well, which was a problem, but we always found a way to communicate! I really hope more projects like these come up later on in the future, its enjoyable and worth to be in.

Impressions after the meeting in Alytus

Teachers Pedro Cerqueira and Lourdes Cruz

From 20th to 25th May 2019, 5 students and 2 teachers from Portugal attended the second meeting in Alytus, Lithuania.

There were six intense days of educational, cultural and tourist activities in a relaxed atmosphere and sharing between elements of the five partner teams in this project, from Poland, Italy, Turkey and the Lithuanian school that welcomed us.

Ice breaking activities at the beginning of the weak was a

great moment for the students to get to know each other.

The international evening with “the bridges of friendship”

was also a stress moment for some of the students but it

was a fun activity.

Every day, students were involved in educational

activities, inside and outside of the school, related to the

application of mathematics to real-life situations, such

as “Math in the kitchen”.

The students also took advantage of the opportunity to

develop oral skills in English as well as contact with

local traditions and customs.

For their part, teachers had the opportunity to share

and exchange views on good teaching practices, visited

the different spaces of the school and attended a

mathematics class.

The teams were received in the noble hall of the Town

Hall by its Vice-president, who listened to all participants

(students and teachers) about their impressions about

the city.

During our stay, we had the opportunity to get to know the local gastronomy and do some tourist and cultural activities in the city. We visited the largest park in the city, the main points of interest and the Ethnographic Museum, where the students had an educational programme.

In these 6 days, the students stayed in the home of families of students of the Lithuanian school, where they were very well received.

In these great days, the Lithuanian team planned for all of us a pleasing week, the activities were extremely well planned and had very different subjects to do. The implementation of the project meeting was very useful and important to the teams.

All the people were very pleasant.

Ricardo Soares

In this visit to Lithuania we stayed in host families where we were treated very well.

The activity performed on the second day was a bit uncomfortable for me, but I enjoyed the party that followed.

I liked the activity “Mathematics in the kitchen and the activities in the Ethnographic Museum. I also enjoyed the visit to Vilnius.

All the people were very friendly.

Bruno Soares

Sunday we went to Alytus where we met with the family who gave it to us which I liked very much.

The following day Monday we introduced ourselves to all the countries and we had a small party

On the fourth day, we went to visit Vilnius and Trakai and I liked very much.

On the fifth day, I liked to make clay in the museum.

And on the last day, I liked the farewell party and mathematical exercises.

Luís Miguel

In Lithuania, I think it was a lot of fun, the people were very nice, it was a very clean place, but what I did not really like was the food, I did not like the look or taste of it, and I would like to go to Lithuania again.

I liked very much the activity in the first afternoon when we present a song performance.

Pedro Faria

The host family where I stayed treated me very well, the very first day

they put me food on the bedside table.

In these days I liked the activities “Mathematics in the kitchen” and in the Ethnographic Museum.

I made friends from several countries.

Simão

On the first day I met my college (Bruno) with the family, the family was friendly they had a nice house, and they gave us a pizza to eat.

On the second day in the morning, we did presentations and in the afternoon we had a beautiful party.

We did several activities that I enjoyed and had fun, like “Mathematics in the kitchen”, “The bridges of friendship” and “Ethnographic Museum”.

I liked the colleagues of the other countries and made several friends.
